Default Should I get a financial advisor??

Hi everyone,
First off let me introduce myself. My name is Tyler and I'm a 21 year old college student from ohio. I have been trying to learn about stocks but I'm still no expert on the area. I've only saved up $1000 so far but I was wondering if I should go ahead and get a financial advisor to help me with my investments. Is that the best way to go about this?

you need to have a good study of all companies that you trade in. Also you should be getting valuable tips about the market. If you give in some time for the stocks you could do well without any advisor

With only $1000 you'd not be able to have a very diversified portfolio. The transaction costs would eat up your money. As for advisors, it may be hard to find advisors that are interested in helping manage a small size account. I recommend going to a mutual fund company, they have free advisors who can help you split your money across different funds. I'd recommend a good mutual fund company, but I don't know much about Ohio. Most mutual fund companies only charge a $30 one-time setup fee or have no-fee accounts which you can setup. Then if you buy/sell their set of funds there's no transaction costs. If you go to a broker the cheapest broker that I know is TradeFreedom and they charge $10/trade. Plus with discount brokerage you'd have to know which companies you want to invest in and do all the research yourself.

Second to Hobbit. better start off with mutual fund and further research on stock you want to invest in. whenever you have the money (or the stock is getting 'cheaper'), you can buy them with your homework done.
