Hi,
I have just started an online business and I want to promote by business on popular sites on the net but I don’t have any idea how it should be done. Do you guys have any idea that can help me out?

Did you mean website promotion?
I am not sure what you are doing business sales or service?
If sales, you can go some b2b site to publish your ads, but some need your money, and some not, like alibaba(paid service), trade.meritline(free servcie in 2008, recommended). Good luck
If for service, you go so some forum or some union site.

Try to learn SEO and SEM technique or you can hire an expert who will do the job for you.

Look for SEO marketing techniques, post articles and press releases, create blogs.

Yeah! It’s very good thought to promote your business through popular sites. You can give banner ads to the popular sites that allow for it. I can suggest you a site called pastjob. It has good traffic and potential TV coverage. Hope this will help in your business development process.

For me some email marketing is just a spam and you're not targeting the right people.

Get lots of things to think about. Truely setting up e-business is really easy for me like shopping cart. But promotion, drive your targeted customers is really hardy
