There is no correct answer because everyone has different reasons. So the correct answer is not always money.
For me and probably most people the money does play a big part in it, but so does the freedom in my time and the thrill of improving, growing and seeing results that are a direct reflection to my work and leadership.

I would say overall, I want a business of my own because I want a better quality of life. I am sure the definition of quality of life is different for most people. But, for me quality of life means freedom, freedom of time, freedom from debt, freedom to live where I want, freedom to live my life the way I want without the same constraints that are placed on an individual who works for someone else.
