read, read and read some more. Speculation in any stock (housing or otherwise) is risky. The safest way to make money from property is to invest for the long term, as despite cyclical dips property prices in the UK and USA have always trended upwards. You only lose money when you sell, so don't sell is my advice. Buy and live in it, or buy and rent it (if the numbers stack up) but sell again at your own risk especially right now.

The whole debacle with subprime lending threatens the security of not only the housing market but bond and equity markets aswell. Securtised mortgage debt has become a staple investment tool for investment houses, penison companies, Life Insurers and even non financial companies such as Wal Mart who are cash rich tend to invest in securitised debt. If the mortgage industry takes a big hit the whole lot could come tumbling down.

It's true normally you have to invest in real estate for long term.
But if you wanna get quick money you should renovate the house at least a little low budget To increase The market value

I want to buy a house too. I have been planning to move to Spain for living and working and I have searching for the real estate in Spain. These are the main sites I have found, property in spain and spanish property . I make the decision after I have traveled to Spain for several times and I find that it is the second most visted country in the world and I recommend all the people travel to Spain . There is much sand beach and sunshine. I like barcelona most and I stay there for more than two weeks. Now I'm thinking of moving to Spain and I wonder if you could give me some other suggestion or recommendation of the property in Spain. Any comments would be much appreciated!

You must first concentrate on your budget.Secondly see that you save extra for the future expense of your house interms of maintenance, insurance etc. Finally try to purchase a house within your geographical reach of your office.I mean, if you buy a house in some other state or if you buy a house which is very far from your office, you will end up being tired and spend most of the time in travelling.

That sounds a good idea to living in Spain. Spain is really a beautiful country in the world to visit. I spent several days in Barcelona and Madrid, and I'd like to go back again for awhile. I think if you're in Barcelona be sure to check out the Picasso museum as well. And I deem that the best way to get around Spain is by train and you can enjoy the beautiful landscape along the way. Finally I can recommend you some property sites I have come across, lake tahoe hotel and palmas real estate. Hoping these could give you some help!
Good luck!

Talk to the local people about the land prices. They know it well and will give right figures than the brokers. You can also read lots of real estate investment guide to get a hands on knowledge on these kinds of property dealings

Is the Spanish property market about to crash?
According to the Times, the Spanish property market is about to burst. This leaves many sellers, buyers and property owners in an insecure position. What is going on? Is the real-estate market in Spain really about crash?
The Telegraph believes that there is no reason for any panic. In Spain the prices of the houses have been rising through the roof since 1997. Luckily, this increase is stabilizing. This leaves the market with more realistic prices than in the past, with advantages for both sides, chances for selling are higher and it will go faster and buyers pay reasonable prices.
According to the Spanish government the property inflation is slowing down from 18.5% in 2003, 17.2% in 2004, 12.8% in 2005, and 9.1% by the end of 2006. The first three months of this year the prices have increased with 7.2%. That is the lowest quarterly increase of the last few years. After the prices have grown with incredible rates in recent years, property prices are finally stabilizing.
The fact that the Spanish property market is over-provisioned cannot be neglected. Therefore there is a possibility that, in some isolated areas, the prices will slightly drop. But there is little chance that this decrease will occur in all of Spain. The prices of the properties in popular areas like the Costa Brava, Costa Blanca, Mallorca and Barcelona will most likely continue to grow because of their value– but more slowly than recent years.
Instead of heading towards an inevitable crash, the Spanish property market is preparing itself for a soft landing. Property owners and buyers around the areas mentioned do not have to fear a sudden depreciation of their properties, since these properties will hold their value in the future.

I heard an interesting report on NPR in a cab the other day about this. With the real estate market becoming as unsteady as it is, flipping houses for profit is not the safest bet for making money any more unless you come across a particularly good deal. If you live in a place where you know a neighborhood is about to turn around but the housing prices do not yet show it, then yes, it is a pretty good bet. But it is a LOT of work. And from renovating my own house, I can tell you that contractors are a huge headache. Do as much research as possible before getting into it so you know what to expect and how much it will really cost you. If the situation is right for you, then it is a great opportunity!
