I do use western union but for local money transfers only. They charge a very expensive fee for international remittances... well that's compared to paypal.

I've read up about it, and I am happy to use it to transfer money to someone I know, but I don't think I would use it for online business transactions.

i think their are a few too many opportunities for scams.

IE: you send money and you don't receive what you paid for but the person you buy from says they sent it. What do you do? At least with paypal, you have recourse.

I used it several times and my experiene with it is really good, I receive around 5 to 10 payments in a year from it.
Its one of the fastest way to receive payment in India but yes that is the problem that you can not send payment from india but hope indian goverment will soon change there policies and we can also send the payments from India.

Yeah... perhaps the additional fees is worth for their good service. And they might even be giving the best service in money remittances.

hey exe , u can remit to india thru western union now . right upto kerala .

there is a small problem though with western union - after the 9/11 incident western union has put up a notice on the counters that there is a possibility of a back query just in case new york doubts the credentials of the remitter and beneficiary.

in such a case the remitter has to produce the id of himself and the beneficiary which wl then be faxed to new york to proceed the remittance.

other than that its a very fast medium of money transer and very reliable and extremely brisk.

well you can remit to india, but a user from india can't send it abroad, that is major issue with it, like i want to send quick money to my friend in dubai its not possible with western union, probably some legal reasons by indian government.
