I am looking to start an online business, but i am not sure how i should name it.

Should i use a brandable easy to remember or name or a name with (business-related) keywords in it?

It all depends on what your business is or is about. Try to think domain, first, before you decide on a name because THAT is going to be linked to your business. I wouldn't dwell to heavily on keyword density either. Just something that looks good and catchy in a domain. One that is easy to remember.

Try writing ideas down on a paper, brainstorming your thoughts. Write dwon phrases or single key words and their alternatives. Then you can see things and speak them aloud and try different combinations, or just a single word, that will be catcy, rememberable and directly appropriate to your business, doing this may even allowe you to put a series of words together so when abreviated the initials spell a word which may be how your remembered more easily.

A slick old salesmen (and accomplished entrepreneur) I knew once told me that the three rules of choosing a company name were:

1. Make it short, so people won't have to shorten it.
2. Make it easy to spell.
3. Make it visual.

"Make it visual" meaning when people hear your name, they have a positive subconscious response to it. For example, "BlueWater Productions" conjures up pleasant images of a cool stream. Just make sure you don't go too far out in left field ("Cool Breeze" wouldn't be a good prefix for a pizza place, for example). Your name has to embody what you do and why you do it.

The way I thought of my online business name was to think of words that relate to my business, then I wrote down everything I could think of. You should always try and keep the name short and easy to remember If you can too.

It is very important to have a name that catches attention and can be remembered easily. And as others have already said, 'visual'. It is also an advantage to have a name that creates a visual image of your products and/or services.

The name should be really catchy... But most of the webpages having something to do with Business are already taken. So maybe trying a name that has nothing to do with it but everyone can remember it.
