Nickesh,

Why not become a VA (Virtual Assistant)? It would be the perfect way to go for you. Join a VA network like vanetworking.com to find out more about this industry and to ask all the questions you like related to it. It's free to join and you can also bag a few clients on the site itself.

Hope that helps,

Anthony

Here's something to think about:

What are your selling points? Speaking from experience, customers rarely buy based on price; they buy on value. It doesn't matter if your financial or marketing products are 25%, 50%, or even 75% lower than your competitors if your prospects don't see very clear benefits to going with your service.

Another thing to consider is the "Rule of 6," which states that in sales, there will be 6 common objections to your product or service, and 6 selling "hot buttons" about your product or service which would convince a customer to buy.

After you've made a few sales calls or networking attempts, sit down and write down the above mentioned 6 most frequent objections and 6 most powerful "hot buttons."

Lastly, let me offer you a piece of hard-earned advice. Never, EVER render a product or service without first presenting a Statement of Work and a binding legal agreement detailing your product time-line, features, limitations, and conditions. Not only will the practice lend to your credibility (which directly correlates to your word-of-mouth), but it'll protect your business from clients who might take advantage of your young business status.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nickesh, I understand how hard to start in business especially on how to market it. You may want to advertise using free article submission sites such as ezine articles, amazines, and squidoo. But there is a easier way for that, why not try to advertise on sites that offer free advertisement space? I would like to recommend U-Gotcash for that, once you register (free registration, no hidden charges) you can take advantage of the marketing and advertising tools such as the online store U-Can Shop for FREE. Right now U-gotcash is giving away $25 instantly on your account upon registration. That's the great offer! Hope you find these useful.

Wishing you success
Anmari

Hey Nickesh

If you have a business you can promote it with a very low budget using email advertising.

I've been in your case (because I also have a small business), and look what I did:
I googled 'opt-in email advertising' and tested each week the companies I found there (used the first ones listed on that page). And got a lot of traffic, but the sales did not increase too much. Acceptable results I got for taketheinternetback.com where I paid 1000 emails for $15 (I think that $15 is a resonable price) and got not only traffic, but also some sales. I searched alexa.com for stats, and it seems that most of the traffic on this website is US based, so it would make sense to use it in my case.

I'm quite pleased with the results, but if anybody knows a better way to increase sales I'll expect replies. Angelinna

Why don't you try blogs. Most people access and read blogs nowadays. Join free ones like squidoo and blogger. Post articles to promote your business. Good Luck!

Surely that there are some information/insights you can share to others. I mean that surely there has got to be something you're good at, you could write articles about it and post it just like what we're doing here. Only difference would be that in blogs you could design it, choose certain layout and/or designs and you could use html codes in some blogs. Blogs are more like a diary, and through it you can place links pointing to your site. That way you could give information and also have advertisements.

Depending on the time you have to dedicate to promoting your service, there are many FREE ways to market yourself, your site and your service!

These strategies are not "secrets" they're not "classified" and they are definitely not "exclusive" or unattainable! Stay away from anyone selling you this type of hype!

What these strategies are:
- time consuming
  • - research intensive
  • Now since I gather you are quite new to the whole marketing business, be prepared to learn and read A LOT!
  • Organize
  • Whenever you encounter tips and strategies that seem to be helpful (this you will only know from trial and error) jot them down.
  • The best way to do this is to put together a document or spreadsheet or whatever other tool you may use to organize your notes.
  • Strategies, categories, tools, resources, helpful tips, examples, relevant resources - print and online.
  • Now that you've got a little organization, try these beginner steps:
  • Do you have a website? Investigate your options - make yourself a face on the internet where you can sell your service. Even if you advertise in third party directories and site, potential clients will want to learn more - a captive audience is what you get and your site is your best opportunity to sell your services!
  • As mentioned in previous posts, blogging is an excellent way to promote your expertise! How do you do this? you have two options. Join a site that allows you to have your own blog - easy and fast start.
  • A better option would be to set up a blog on your own web site. Takes a little more time -but now you have full control over your content! MANY Free QUALITY blogging software open source applications that you can work on a point and click basis are available. Investigate your options. Your hosting company will probably have some of these integrated as options in your account.
  • Work on your site, offer good quality regularly updated content.
  • Work on your meta tags and descriptions.
  • Submit your site to free directories. If you offer a niche specific or geographically specific service - focus on those!
  • Submit your site to free blogging directories. Again - choose appropriate categories and topics for max exposure.
  • Use google webmaster tools to submit your sitemap for google to index. Free sitemap generating tools are available from numerous websites online.
  • Write articles to showcase your knowledge and submit to article directories. Do this often! Free advertising for you.
  • Visit other blogs that are in the same industry as you. Add your comments and link.
  • Visit forums that target your market. Add a signature file with a link to your site.

  • Add your services to freelance sites - sites that offer freelance services - free sites available - investigate.
  • If you have satisfied clients, request that they write short recommendation letters or testimonials to feature on your site.
  • If you don't have any customers yet, offer your services on a volunteer basis to not for profit organizations in return for a recommendation or testimonial and link back to your site from theirs.

  • The first thing you need to do BEFORE any of the above, is put together a solid business plan.
  • These are just the basic tips and work best at getting you the most exposure . The more you investigate and research - you will see that you don't need to spend a lot of money to build your business, but you do need a lot of time and determination.

Ask for advice - as you just did - many many people who are not selling you will always be happy to help.
