Owners of expensive homes or Rich people or Anyone who has money and is willing to pay Here is the problem with believing that wealthy people are your ideal clients: It is an ineffective target because it is too broad. Choosing "high-end homes" or "wealthy homeowners" as your target does not give you a specific target. And without a clear, defined target, your business will be less successful. I do agree that we need to clearly specified the target market. However, it really depends on what you are selling. In our case, selling web site design and business web applications, getting the message out to the "deep pockets" is a good option. It's because most deep pockets are usually business owners or decision makers.
We tried targeting local businesses (not home based) before, but we found out that a lot of our efforts were "screened" or lost before even getting to the decision makers. Also, when going to a business or networking mixer, most people that own a business or decision makers are usually pretty well off. I am not determining that people that own businesses are rich, but usually they own a house. So by reaching them at their "leisure time" might not be a bad idea. Just another opinion.......it might work for someone, it might not. Good Topic!
