Default Yoghurt Ads backfire

bwuahahahaa!

A bunch of ads for yoghurt from brazil have gone horribly wrong as it turns out that the world agrees that bigger women look GOOD.

It's for yoghurt. They've basically signed their own death warrants. First they insult their target market, and then they contradict themselves by making big women look good while their tagline announces that men don't like bigger women. So far 3 out of 5 men have ranked the women in those pictures as highly attractive. ^_^

In terms of "shock" value and getting some attention, this ad did its' job.

However, the ad itself overpower the message. People would remember the ad, and only the ad. Ads like these would work for introducing a new product, not enhancing brand image.

They must have forgotten to consult with their Public Relation department when they published the ad.

The add only served to make the brand a laughing stock, and believe me, it WILL be remembered. You don't insult your entire demographic and get away scot free.

Wow, that is brave!

I certainly have made the sound business decision NOT to alienate my target market in the advertising I do, why can't the big guys learn that lesson too?

I hope that they do notice a backlash in their sales.

Heh, at the very least they must be aware that their brand is now the laughing stock of the online world and probably any country the ad runs in.
