i think shirts and uniforms that mention your company name and website are a good branding tool.

You could also consider giving a free tshirt to your customer in the hope that they wear them.

Yes, if the design of the t-shirts are clean and trendy at times.. people do wear it to colleges and public places....

thats the reason why we have started a t-shirt design service... just using a plain logo on the t-shirt makes is dull and people dont generally wear them... so we design using elements..

Promoting through Tshirst's specially used by college students at a college gathering or shows will help in promoting a product to quite a good extent.

I am thinking of promoting my upcoming 'win a website' promotion on a tshirt. But more importantly a tshirt I will be wearing to business networking events.

I think it could work ok as a marketing technique, however you have to consider the price of a T-shirt, the value of a customer, and the conversion rate that you have to attain. For example: if you own a website and make $2 throughout the life-time of a customer from selling ad space, then the chances are you are never going to get a return from marketing through T-shirts.

You make a good point, but typically t shirts are for overall brand awareness rather than direct marketing, in the same way sponsoring an event is. You can't put a price on good will and brand reconition, as it's what defines whether or not a customer will come to you before even considering other options. It's a matter of deciding how much you plan to spend on t shirts, I wouldn't give them out to everybody, but I'd get my staff and anyone helping me to wear them at relevant times.

I'm a walking add for my businesses, they're such a huge and fun part of my life that if I ever do t shirts (kinda keen to now...) they're gonna be printed with jokes, and I'll have hats and boots and stickers. And I'll wander around scaring children with my UBER BRANDING(TM)

That kind of promotion is effective when You promote in schools etc. Kids will wear Your t-shirts in school when they play basketball etc. But anyone won't wear "part of Your promotion" in work etc Cheers
