I think radio advertising is best for local businesses. Like businesses that are located in a city and does not have a lot of branches nationwide.

you have a very captive audience for radio advertising, eg: people driving in cars.

I would advertise by radio if my product/service was generic, like a pizza place or laundry servce. But for any product/service that has a more well defined target market, I wouldn't use mass advertising.

i hardly listen to radio, as i prefer more of tv programs, though radio advertising is expensive..
telecom companies with various schemes, internet broadband companies, fmcg companies are more likely to advertise on radios, as they want to remind people again about the brand, just go and buy it ..

the nice thing about radio is it is relatively cheap to test. you can run your ad for a few days without breaking the bank. remember all business are different, you wont know what will work for you until you try it.

Radio advertising is definitely worth while if...

Your target market listens to the radio
You have a way of tracking how much new business you make from the adverts

Otherwise, it's just another poor way of wasting money no matter what size your business.

Cheers

Pete
