I still work a full-time job and it is a demanding one. I am a software engineer and I have been involved in information technology longer than I'd like. The pay is good, but the stress is outrageous. Having such a demanding career requires me to find pockets of time in which to manage my business. Here is an example of how I manage my business. In all honesty, I do use my cell phone at work at times to keep track of ongoings within my busiiness. I have to. Sometimes I don't get home until late. I am lucky in that I live very close to my home; I live about 8 minutes away. During my lunch, I come home to check my messages and return phone calls. When I get home in the evenings, I will get on the phone and check and return emails. I spend about an hour or so doing this. Afterwards, I run for about 45 minutes (I believe you must be fit physically as well as mentally, so I do exercise 6 days a week). Next, I will address my home responsiblities. Once my home responsiblities are complete, I will get back on my computer and complete my business responsibilities. Sometimes, I am up till 10:00 or 11:00 or longer at night. I do all of this each day of the week every week; with maybe one day at the end of the month for a time out. Prior to each day, I write an itenerary for myself of the things I need to do, or what is better known as a list of to-do's. If you have a job, you need to be organized and you must find pockets of time in which to run your buisness. Excuses that prevent you from doing something for your business will not help your business to grow. As the saying goes, you must sow before you can reap the benefits.

Your business would go much better if you gave it all your time.
Giving up a full time job is a risk but with business you need to take risks to get the benefits.

Hey Lawren,
I did the juggling act for 2 years until I realized that I can take the leap into running the business I started. It was a decision that I had to be brave because I was leaving the comforts of having the paycheck and benefits. I wish for you that your business flourishes and be able to sustain your daily needs to move on from the 9-5ver. |

I'm in the that boat now. During the day I'm a quality engineer, at night I'm I run a real estate photography and advertise company. My wife does work full time at the business and that really helps. I hope one day she will left me quite and let me work full time with the business.

Yes, it is entirely possible to do something like that... but why would you WANT to? You business could make you millions, if given all of your time. Working is for the drones.

It can be hard to do multiple things at the same time. I am in a similar position, and work from 8 in the morning till midnight. Unfortunately, i don't really have any alternative at the moment.
