Default Fierce Competition, keeping mouth closed

hi everyone, im new here

im currently in a job with top people, im competing to produce a better invention of a product, involves alot of mental creativity and intelligent evidence to support the case
the competition is fierce,
but as usual there are always nosey colleagues persistingly wanting to know your ideas, pretending to suddenly to be your best friend, and getting angry when you don't tell them, and thus creating trouble with you among their friends

my question is, how do you withold your ideas, not leak out any little idea, be it a word whatever, to let them know your hypothesis

how do you guard your idea, and be their best friend at the same time? as a result of not spilling information (which i certainly dont have to, as they are my competitors, and which i will lose the originality of my idea)..i feel im drifting further out of the networking system, how can i balance networking with competition?

Thanks in-advance!!!

this is your business & work , and you might want to keep it very much private, its obvious sometimes you want to share it up with your very close friends, but it has to be limited to one person or 2 at the max who you trust more then yourself.

for competitors its practically impossible that you will give your ideas to them or even a hint about any of your idea.

Yes, Ankur is right. Business is business and everyone has to understand that. You have to protect your ideas.

Best of luck!

I agree. If you want to protect your idea in the business world it pays to keep it pretty much to yourself. That's a really hard one though. If you find a way to keep business private while maintaining your friends please let us know. I hope it all goes well for you!

LIE. Tell them about your amazing new breakthrough... and have it be a complete lie. They're trying to hurt you, friend, so you need to hurt them.

It's really a hard question... Having visited this topic, it aroused me a very disturbed feeling. And as a primary problem of certain individuals, having ideas as their work... It's really hard to get feedbacks from other colleagues for chances are that idea might be stolen. If it was me, I'd use replacements to my hypothesis. I won't use anything that might give my idea away but instead I'd use similarly comparable but different things. Example would be if I'm talking about music, I'd use terms of arts. That way it would be more general and nobody would notice.

Interested and Curious about what? Well, I too am very curious about how things have turned out to be. Whether or not how it turned out okay for honest-helper or... and if everything turned out okay, how did he confront his problem? honest-helper did you lie? Just joking... hehehe..
