Default Is your company country or worldwide based?

When you are new to the internet, it is often confusing as to whether you should target a worldwide market or a localised market. Part of your business plan should cover whether youa re going to be local or not.

A couple of questions:

1. Are you aiming at a local or worldwide market?
2. How is your marketing different depending on your audience.

Also, can you give advice to anyone about your different marketing depending on your audience.

world wide should be your aim if you have internet presence
but it depends on your product/service
sometimes company starts a site just for name sake.
if you are providing designing/coding services and such then worldwide should be your aim.

how marketing is different
well ... locally people who know you come most of the time or people come through recommendation
but sometimes people come just liking your work
the same is the case with internet

the main thing is advertising is more crucial over the internet since there are millions of sites out there and your site has to stand out.

In our banking industry we are in regular contact with business people and when we put the question to them whether they want to expand internationally, they have very conservative reasons for not doing so :

reason 1 : we are doing fine locally so dont feel need to expand

reason 2 : too many procedures involved in foreign investment

reason 3 : we dont have reliable and experienced hands to manage
international business

reason 4 : if we lose we lose more in foreign market

reason 5 : we dont trust overseas agents

As such these opinions show how conservative and closed minded some businessmen are as they are satisfied with small successes and dont possess the drive and culture to become growth oriented corporate bodies.
