Smart phone sales to double
The Indian cell phone market is getting smarter by the year. In 2006. India witnessed sales of 65 million handsets, more than double the 32 million sold in 2005. Par for the course one may say, but the interesting development is that “smart phones’ have contributed 4% to those numbers.
With travel becoming an intrinsic part of an executive’s life, it has become imperative for people to remain connected. Data transfer has assumed critical importance and relaying information while on the move has become a necessity. Dubai- headquartered hi-tech mobile devices player I-mate group says the market for high end phones will cross 2 lakh units.” We forecast that the Indian market for high-end mobile devices will grow by 70% in 2007”, says I-mate chairman Pankaj Mahindroo.

Yes this information is accurate, I was just going through a few news channels and happen to see a show named as "Hot Tech Gadgets" they mentioned the Smart Phones, Imate, O2 etc would increase with their sales this year, coz there are upcoming models which are going to be released at a very cheap rate and user friendly.
