can you please narrow it down for me.

It means that any money loaned is somehow backed by some type of a collateral.

Also please note that they like "hard" assets. Such as Real Estate, Computers, Desks, basically anything they can touch and feel. Something like an idea, isn't going to cut it.

Banks when lending loans need something to compensate in case you default.

So you have to keep something as a collateral.
