I've only been doing network marketing for 2 months now, but already I see a big change. The main reason is I wanted to learn and understood that it would take diligence. I have been taken a couple of times and it does seem there's no hope sometimes because it feels like all the programs seem to do the same thing. The most important thing I've found is if it's a right fit for you then you will do what ever takes to be successful. It's your decision to make, do what is right for you.

There is a difference in home based businesses.
What many of you are talking about is Network Marketing or MLM. In those types of businesses, it only seems like the person on the top of it is the one that is making good money. Many of those types of companies and people make it sound way better than it really is. Now, if you are talking about a true home based business, then that is a whole different story. I have seen hundreds of successful home based businesses. This can be as simple as someone making pies and selling them on the corner, to exporting goods, to consulting, website design, etc. I have seen people make anywhere from $10,000 - $500,000+ per year from their home based business. Please remember, in order to be successful, you don't have to have an office in a retail area or a populated area. This only adds additional monthly expenses which takes away from your profits. Aaron

I have been running my home based business for a while now and things are really starting to move along. I am in network marketing and I use Internet marketing to prospect as I believe it is a far superior way to prospect.
I run a affiliate system to pay for my advertising and leads and generating sign ups into my network marketing business. The more people I get into my affiliates the more money I can put into advertsining and the more prospects see my network marketing business. It is working very well for me. Mitch

It depends. If someone is promising you $1000 per day, then I would treat it with suspicion. On the other hand if a website offers you step by step information on how to set up your own business then you can probably trust it. The rule of thumb I follow is that if I am being promised a fantasy then I will ignore the website. As with anything in life, you have to work to make money whether online or offline. It's just that some people rip of others online by promising them "get rick quick schemes."
So all in all, try to find websites which provide you free information on setting up a home business. There are plenty and I do not think you need to ever pay for this information. Setting up a home business has become common knowledge but using tactics to drive traffic and convert visitors into customers is where the real meat lies. If some one is asking you to pay how to learn these tactics then you should pay. But I personally would never buy an ebook or book promising me to "Set up" a business online as that information has become common on websites and forums. Hope that helps! |

That's right Immortal, I am giving myself 3 to 5 years to build my business. So far I am on pace to make that goal. I see so many people (myself included) give up after 6 months or so. Online or home based business is no different than traditional bricks and mortar business. Slow and steady wins the race.

The internet makes home based business possible. There are success stories. But there are also scam cases. To go into home based business, it requires due diligence because of risks involved .

A home based business is like any other business. Its up to you to make it work. As for the "business opportunities" out there, I would say 90% scams. Most are MLM, some want you to push their products. I make my living online and I plan to keep it that way. If anyone's interest do blog about personal finance issues, investing and I have a series on starting an e-commerce business. The real way to start a business, any product-based business is to find good suppliers in a niche market that has potential, then add in some marketing know-how. There is no such thing as a "business in a box". The easier those so-called 'opportunities' sound, the more likely its a scam or something not worth your time.
