I believe the rule of thumb is if it sounds too good to be true, and you only have to pay say $50 to start then its probably a scam, or not worth your time. Ie. surveys, most affiliates, form entry, typing for cash etc.
If you want to be successful you have to find an Internet niche, one category you are going to focus on.
Although I said most affiliates are a waste of time, some are a good investment. If you are willing to put the time into creating a website, buying advertising and really treating it as a true business, you will be successful.
Its all about building a list.
