Well i dont know much about home based businesses but i can surely tell about networking.
its simple n too good not to do. coz the only difference is that u benefit the customer benefits. its win - win situation. you got to him/her and thats it.
You cant expect the customer to come around to you and get the stuff coz here customer is king .
