If you know nothing about investing then instead of going to forums and getting advice from who-knows-who I think you should go to a professional financial advisor and get yourself setup with mutual funds or ETFs. It's usually a good idea to keep some percentage, say 40%, in bonds and the rest in equities. With a large sum like yours you should be concerned about preserving wealth and not risking it. If you know nothing about investing and have no experience then you're likely to make losses investing in individual stocks.
